Duplicate Patient Records

Duplicate Patient: Adding or Editing a Patient Record

You will not be able to add a Patient to INRstar that already exists in the database.  Below are the scenarios where the entry will be prevented.

The first scenario is when ALL of the following data entered for a new patient matches an existing patient. Note that the existing patient may be active or inactive.

                     • Family Name

                     • First Initial of Given Name

                     • Date of Birth

                     • Gender

The second scenario is when trying to add/ edit a patient who has the same NHS number as another patient at your location.

You will see the following message for these two scenarios.

When this happens you will need to check that the patient who is already on the system is the same patient that you are trying to add, if not the NHS number needs to be checked because two patients cannot have the same NHS number.

The third scenario is when trying to add a patient who has the same Patient number as another patient at your location.
